In Hyechka’s early years, many Hyechka officers and members attended Tulsa Public Schools board meetings to encourage and persuade  the adoption of music curricula throughout the District, which was accomplished. Throughout the years Hyechka has continued to provide encouragement and financial support to selected TPS schools. Currently the Civic Committee makes an annual survey of the needs of TPS music departments and awards financial support for the purchasing of supplies and capital needs to those schools departments most in need. The students of the selected school perform at a celebratory brunch on the first Wednesday in December of each year.
